CALIFORNIA, MARYLAND – RoboNation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering robotics education and workforce development, will host the Student Unmanned Aerial Systems Competition (SUAS) from June 25 – 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s County Regional Airport (2W6) in Maryland. The competition will see 400 students from 9 U.S. states and 9 countries gather in St. Mary’s County to put their unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the test.
The SUAS Competition is an annual event aimed at promoting unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technologies and careers. It provides students with a platform to develop and showcase their skills in designing, building, and operating unmanned aerial systems. The competition has been held annually since 2002 and continues to inspire students in the field of UAS.
This year marks the first under the management of RoboNation, a nonprofit organization overseeing nine robotics programs across aerial, ground, maritime, and virtual domains. RoboNation is excited to be a larger part of this competition moving forward and to continue its legacy within the Southern Maryland community.
“We are delighted to welcome such a diverse and talented group of students to this year’s competition,” said Lindsey Groark, Vice President of Programs at RoboNation. “These participants are at the forefront of tackling the complex challenges in autonomous aerial technology. Their creativity and dedication not only push the boundaries of what’s possible but also represent the future global workforce in this critical field.”
