RoboNation Returns to Sarasota to Host the 2025 RoboBoat Competition at Nathan Benderson Park

SARASOTA, FL – The 2025 RoboBoat Competition will return to Nathan Benderson Park from March 3-9, 2025, bringing together top student teams from around the world to showcase their skills in autonomous maritime robotics. This year’s event will be the largest yet, with 27 teams from 9 countries and 9 U.S. states and territories competing throughout the week, culminating in an exciting final showdown on March 9th.

RoboBoat is an annual international competition that challenges university and high school teams to design, build, and operate fully autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) capable of tackling complex tasks. Each year, students push the boundaries of autonomous systems, demonstrating real-world applications in tasks including navigation, sensing, docking, and delivery.

“Engaging the next generation in hands-on robotics education is critical to building the future workforce,” said Alicia Gavin, Director of Communications and Marketing at RoboNation. “The event also serves as a talent pipeline, connecting emerging engineers and researchers with industry professionals, government officials, and tech leaders. These students aren’t just competing; they’re developing real-world skills that will help address the challenges of tomorrow.”

Nathan Benderson Park, known for hosting premier water-based events, provides an ideal setting for RoboBoat, offering a dynamic space where technology and competition meet on the water.

Media Day is scheduled for March 5, 2025, offering exclusive access and insights into the competition, however, members of the press are welcome to join us at any point during the competition. The 2025 RoboBoat competition is open to the public, and Sarasota residents and STEM enthusiasts are encouraged to attend and experience the marvel of maritime robotics.
